Beer of the Month: Golden Road’s Mango Cart

This LA brewery has made a wheat ale that reminds us of a beachfront fresh fruit vendor.

In 2011, two beer fanatics launched Golden Road Brewery in Los Angeles. It didn’t take long for people to notice the beer coming out of this brewery, especially their light, fruited wheat ales. Mango Cart was the first in a series inspired by the iconic fruit cart vendors of Los Angeles. A light Wheat Ale bursting with lots of fresh mango flavour and aroma, finishing crisp and refreshing.

While yes, Golden Road was purchased by Anheuser-Busch, we still have to give credit where credit is due. Mango Cart is practically like sipping on fresh squeezed juice. The mango flavour isn’t overpowering, but it is present just enough to bring out the tropical notes in this wheat ale.

This might be the perfect summer time beer, as it’s only 4% ABV and it doesn’t feel heavy, and it’s not as tart as some other summer flavours. Normally we wouldn’t call out a beer that is mass produced at this scale, but honestly, this is the kind of beer that would easily find a place in our fridge.
