Beer of the Month: Container Brewing’s Seawise Giant

This is one giant of a stout!

Container Brewing may have only just turned two years old, but the brewery has already managed to make an imperial stout that ranks amongst the best in BC.

Named after the largest tanker ship ever built, Seawise Giant is an incredible 11% imperial stout, so this one is not for the faint of heart. Despite being such a heavy hitter, it doesn’t drink all that heavy, or give off too much of an alcoholic taste. That’s likely helped by the roasted malts and cacao nibs that bring a nice complexity to the beer, which you might not remember if you have too many of these.

Think of Seawise Giant as that perfect sipper by the crackling fireplace. It’s rich, complex and has a nice warming finish. Just don’t try to drive anywhere after even one of these bad boys. This is a beer meant to enjoy in the cold season, but don’t hesitate to pick it up whenever you see it, because the beer nerds of the word are certain to scoop it up if you don’t!
