Squamish’s Backcountry Brewing has been producing excellent beer since 2017, and while they continue to pump out some crazy experiments, it’s one of their original core beers that still impresses to this day.
The Widowmaker IPA is a NE IPA with bold, juicy flavour that hits all the right notes for IPA lovers. This beer has a light malt profile with a big pulpy body to complement the intense juicy character coming from the hops. The fruit character also comes out strong with pineapple, passion fruit, grapefruit and orange notes making this a veritable fruit salad of a beer.

At 6.7% ABV it’s just strong enough to really sink your teeth into but not so overpowering that you aren’t limited tot having just one in a sitting.
On occasion they will also produce a double dry hopped version, loaded with Citra and Mosaic hops. It’s an incredible upleveling of an already great beer, and sells out quite quickly.
As a core beer, Widowmaker IPA is generally easily found in liquor stores across BC, so there is no excuse not to try this excellent BC IPA.
