The holiday season is one of the best times of year for unique craft beer releases, from Belgian Quads to Barrel Aged Stouts it’s a great time of year to be a beer drinker. But one of the most anticipated releases for us is Strange Fellows Krampus.
Krampus is a Belgian-style dubbel brewed with Belgian candy sugar and dark malts. It is rich, malty, and warming, with hints of chocolate, cherry and toffee. It also happens to be one of those beers that fits perfectly with the winter months; at over 8% ABV it’s definitely one worth sipping by the fire.
Krampus is a beer that is highly recommended as a sipper. After a bottle of Krampus, you’ll surely be feeling the holiday spirit, and after two you’ll be holly jolly. Despite the fact that this Belgian is quite powerful, it does pair nicely with holiday foods. Think flavoured sausages, meat stews, gouda cheese and anything chocolate. A perfect pairing for the next holiday dinner.
You can currently find Krampus in 650ml bottles at Strange Fellows, as well as select liquor stores. It’s worth picking up a few of these bottles as Krampus disappears around January and doesn’t make another appearance until usually November; that’s a long time to wait for an exceptional beer.
