There are a lot of beer festivals, but some standout more than others. One of the best festivals in Canada (in our opinion) happens to be Farmhouse Fest, the annual beer festival held at UBC. Now, the organizers of that event are launching a winter festival, and by the looks of it, it will be one you don’t want to miss.
Weathered is a curated beer and art event, showcasing the best possible beers available within select style ranges. Weathered is all about the extreme end of the beer spectrum. Think big not only in strength, but in flavour and time. Imperial Stouts, Barleywines, Barrel Aged, Strong Ales, Extreme Hops, and Lambic! Wild Ales will be included where appropriate, as an ode to the Farmhouse Fest roots.
The reason Farmhouse Fest is such a delight is the strong focus on curation and selection, and Weathered definitely continues that tradition. Just look at the names associated with this festival so far: Ale Apothecary, Alesmith, Beere, Boombox, Breakside, The Bruery, Cantillon, Collective Arts, Crux, Dageraad, de Molen, Deschutes, Dunham, Epic, Firestone Walker, 3 Fonteinen, Founders, Gigantic, Holy Mountain, Jester King, Jopen, Kees, Luppolo, Powell, Siren, Superflux, Temporal, Tilquin, Twin Sails, Uiltje.
If that list isn’t reason enough to already be buying a ticket, then you’re crazy. Tickets are $100 (+tax and fees) per session, and will be sold online only. This is also going to be a very intimate event; capacity of the venue is 200 people per session, with only two sessions in the day. Here’s the other great thing, Weathered will run without tokens. Your ticket includes the beers you wish to sample, and feel free to sample as much as you like.
Tickets go on sale as of today, October 26th, with the actual festival running on January 12th at the Heritage Hall at 3102 Main Street. There are two sessions from 1pm-5pm and 7pm-11pm.
