Today is Valentine’s Day, the day of sex and romance. If you’re thinking of having a romantic dinner at home, then there’s nothing better than a sexy cocktail to start the mood off right. No matter your taste, these five cocktails will be sure to impress.
The Vesper Martini
Every James Bond fan will know this martini well. Not only is it a classic, it’s dead sexy.
Ingredients:
- 3 oz Gordon’s Gin
- 1 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz Kina Lillet
- Lemon peel for garnish
Method: Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel.
Touch of Venus
The mixture of dry white wine and the sweetness of lemoncello go together exceptionally well in this is cocktail.
Ingredients:
- 3 oz dry white wine
- 1 oz Limoncello
- 1/2 tsp amaretto
- 1/2 tsp fresh lemon juice
Method: Add liquids to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake for five seconds and strain into a large wine goblet. Place lemon spiral garnish on top.
The Boulevardier
For those that love their Negroni’s, but are looking for something with a bit of a twist.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz bourbon
- 1 oz Campari
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
Method: Add all the ingredients to a rocks glass filled with ice and stir to combine. Garnish with an orange twist.
Mint Rose Champagne Cocktail
Adding rose petals to your evening brings a touch of flair and romance to an already sexy drink. This also happens to make a large batch you can enjoy all evening.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 cup mint leaves
- 4 tablespoons lime juice
- 1 cup dried rosebuds or rose petals
- 2 bottles champagne
Method: Over medium-low heat, combine the sugar and honey with 1 cup water in a saucepan. When sugar melts, add mint leaves and let simmer, stirring occasionally, for around half an hour. Strain out the mint and return liquid to saucepan. Remove from heat. Stir in fresh lime juice and crushed rosebuds. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. When ready to serve, add 1 tablespoons rose syrup to each champagne glass. Top with dry champagne. Garnish with finely crushed rosebuds and mint leaves.
A Day in Paradise
This tropical inspired nectar brings together some unique Italian flavours with tropical fruit for a passionate libation.
Ingredients:
- 1 bottle Prosecco
- 1/2 oz Limoncello
- 1/2 oz vodka
- 1/2 oz Cointreau
- Dash of grenadine
- Maraschino cherry
Method: In a shaker of ice, pour Limoncello, vodka and Cointreau and shake for 20 seconds. Strain into a tall champagne glass. Top up with Prosecco. Add a touch of grenadine and stir gently. Drop a maraschino cherry into the glass.
